For those of you that like to explore different areas in small sections and not be confined to a safari vehicle for long periods, Arusha National Park is definitely worth putting some time aside for. Its close proximity to Arusha and compact size makes this park the ideal venue for a day trip, combining game drives, a walking safari and even an (optional) canoeing safari on the Momella Lakes. You'll get close to water buffalo, hippos and many types of water birds, including lesser flamingo.

Amazing Day Trip - Arusha National Park
For Real Adventure
You will visit a Maasai village to learn about the local culture. You will visit Maasai families at Mto wa Mbu. You will be able to discover the traditional life of the Maasai, their culture, their traditions, and visit their bomas (grouping of huts of an extended family).
Departure: Depending on your flight details you will get transferred to Kilimanjaro or Arusha Airport to connect your flight back home.
- Meal Plan: Breakfast, and Lunch
- Game Viewing: Enjoy a 3-hour game viewing experience, followed by an approximately 2.5-hour transfer to Arusha after the activity ends.

Your adventure begins with an early morning pick-up from your hotel or preferred location in Arusha. After meeting your professional driver-guide, you'll enjoy a comfortable drive to Arusha National Park, entering through the scenic Momella Gate. Along the way, your guide introduces you to the park's unique ecosystems and wildlife, preparing you for one of the best day trips from Arusha.

Begin your safari on foot, accompanied by an experienced armed park ranger. Walking through the park offers a completely different perspective from a traditional game drive — allowing you to appreciate the smaller details of nature while safely observing giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, warthogs, antelopes, and numerous bird species from a closer distance.

Game Drive Through the Park
Continue exploring by 4x4 safari vehicle through open plains, dense forest, and the beautiful Momella Lakes. Watch for hippos resting in the water, waterbucks grazing the shoreline, and colourful birdlife including flamingos, herons, cormorants, kingfishers and other migratory species — excellent territory for wildlife viewing and photography.

Stop at a designated picnic site to enjoy a freshly prepared picnic lunch, surrounded by the park's peaceful natural environment — a perfect chance to relax, take photographs, and take in the scenery.

Paddle quietly across the calm waters of Little Momella Lake for a unique, low-impact view of wildlife and birdlife. Guests who prefer not to canoe can continue with additional game drives instead, with more time to search for wildlife and explore other scenic areas of the park.

Final Game Drive & Return
Enjoy a final game drive while making your way toward the park exit. Later in the afternoon, depart Arusha National Park and return to Arusha, where you'll be dropped off at your hotel, residence, or another preferred location — concluding a memorable day safari from Arusha.
