Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, a friendly representative from African Overland will greet you and assist with immigration procedures. the transfer time from Kilimanjaro Airport to Arusha it being approximately 1.5 hours. Afterwards, you’ll be driven to the vibrant town of Arusha at the foot of Mount Meru, where you’ll spend the night at the elegant Mount Meru Hotel. Surrounded by lush gardens, it’s the perfect place to relax and prepare for the adventure ahead.
After a hearty breakfast, depart Arusha and head to Tarangire National Park, a hidden gem often overshadowed by its more famous neighbours. A safari trip to Arusha and Tarangire National Park in the morning, taking approximately 2.5 hours. You’ll arrive in time for lunch at Maramboi Tented Lodge, located in a 25,000-hectare concession area near Lake Manyara.
After settling in, venture into Tarangire for your first exciting game drive. The park is home to large herds of elephants, tree-climbing lions, and diverse birdlife, all set against a backdrop of ancient baobab trees. Later, return to Maramboi Tented Lodge for dinner and a night under the stars in the African bush.

Enjoy an early morning Game Drive in Tarangire, taking in the serenity and spotting more wildlife. Known for its rich biodiversity and especially high population of elephants, Tarangire is a fantastic introduction to Tanzania’s natural beauty.
After lunch, you’ll travel onward to the lush highlands of Karatu, just outside the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. the journey time between Tarangire and Karatu it being approximately 2 hours. You’ll check in at the charming Ngorongoro Coffee Lodge, surrounded by gardens and coffee plantations. Enjoy dinner and rest well before tomorrow’s crater adventure.
Today you’ll descend into the legendary Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the best places in Africa to see the Big Five. With forests, grasslands, and soda lakes, the crater hosts a staggering density of wildlife including lions, hyenas, buffalo, and—if you’re lucky—the elusive black rhino.
You may also spot local Maasai herders guiding cattle along the crater rim. After a full day of exploration, return to the rim for a peaceful evening and overnight stay at Ngorongoro Lion’s Paw, located on the crater’s edge.
After breakfast, you’ll drive through the Ngorongoro highlands en route to Serengeti National Park, with a stop at Olduvai Gorge, one of the world’s most important paleoanthropological sites. Learn about the early origins of humankind before continuing into the vast Serengeti.
You’ll arrive at Kubu Kubu Tented Lodge, your base for the next two nights. Later, go on an afternoon game drive across the endless plains, where wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles roam freely—and predators like lions and cheetahs lie in wait.
Spend the entire day exploring the Serengeti, known worldwide for its incredible wildlife concentrations. Even outside of migration season, the park teems with life—from giraffes and buffalo to topis, elands, and warthogs.
This region is a paradise for big cat lovers, with high chances of seeing lions, leopards, and cheetahs. Smaller felines like servals and caracals are also occasionally spotted. Whether you’re scanning for vultures circling overhead or enjoying a bush picnic, today promises nonstop safari magic. Return to Kubu Kubu Tented Lodge for dinner and a night under canvas. An optional Hot Air Balloon Safari is available, conducted very early in the morning.
Begin the day with a final early morning game drive in the Serengeti, soaking in the sunrise and the last glimpses of the park’s remarkable wildlife. After breakfast, depart the Serengeti and journey toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Enjoy scenic views along the way, with a picnic lunch en route. Descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for a half-day game drive, exploring its diverse ecosystem. Later, continue to Karatu for an overnight stay in a comfortable Acacia Farm Lodge located on the crater’s rim or nearby highlands, offering a peaceful retreat.
After breakfast, head to Lake Manyara National Park for a scenic game drive through its forests, open plains, and lake shore—home to elephants, hippos, and tree-climbing lions. This compact but diverse park offers a fitting end to your safari experience. After the tour, enjoy lunch en route or in Arusha (time permitting), followed by a transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your outbound flight, concluding your unforgettable 8-day Tanzania Classic Safari.
