Day 1: Arrival in Arusha

Day 1: Arrival in Arusha
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) or Arusha Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by an African Overland representative and transferred comfortably to your lodge in Arusha. This relaxed arrival day gives your family time to settle in and prepare for an unforgettable Tanzania family safari.
Once you arrive at the lodge, take some time to unwind after your journey. Families can enjoy the peaceful surroundings, relax by the pool, explore the lodge gardens, or simply enjoy a comfortable evening before the safari adventure begins.
Arusha is the ideal gateway to Tanzania’s most famous safari destinations, including Tarangire National Park, Lake Manyara National Park, Ngorongoro Crater, and Serengeti National Park. Your safari guide will also brief you about the upcoming Tanzania wildlife safari, including the daily schedule and what to expect during your game drives.
Whether you are traveling with young children, teenagers, or grandparents, this easy-going first day ensures everyone is rested and ready for the exciting wildlife experiences ahead.

Day 2: Arusha to Tarangire National Park - Karatu
After breakfast, your African Overland professional safari guide will pick you up from your lodge in Arusha and begin your exciting Tanzania family safari to Tarangire National Park. The journey takes you into one of Tanzania’s most rewarding wildlife destinations, famous for its large elephant herds, ancient baobab trees, and beautiful savannah landscapes.
Upon entering the park, enjoy your first Tanzania wildlife safari game drive as your guide helps the whole family spot and identify the animals around you. Tarangire is home to elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, buffaloes, impalas, hartebeests, warthogs, and many species of colorful birds. With some luck, you may also see lions and leopards moving through the grasslands or resting beneath the trees.
A picnic lunch will be enjoyed inside the national park, surrounded by the sights and sounds of the African wilderness. After lunch, continue with an afternoon game drive through Tarangire, exploring the park’s diverse habitats and watching wildlife gather around the Tarangire River and seasonal water sources.

Day 3: Karatu to Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, your African Overland safari guide will pick you up and begin your journey toward the world-famous Serengeti National Park. Drive through the spectacular Ngorongoro Conservation Area, enjoying breathtaking scenery and panoramic viewpoints overlooking the magnificent Ngorongoro Crater.
As you continue toward the Serengeti, the landscape gradually changes from highland forests and rolling hills to vast open plains. This scenic drive is an exciting part of your Tanzania family safari, with plenty of opportunities to stop, take photographs, and enjoy the changing landscapes.

Arusha to Tarangire National Park - Karatu
After breakfast, your African Overland professional safari guide will pick you up from your lodge in Arusha and begin your exciting Tanzania family safari to Tarangire National Park. The journey takes you into one of Tanzania’s most rewarding wildlife destinations, famous for its large elephant herds, ancient baobab trees, and beautiful savannah landscapes.
